RF Engineer

The primary focus is on comprehensive RF system knowledge and hands-on technical leadership. We are seeking a candidate who thrives in a lab environment and is passionate about practical, hands-on engineering—not solely office-based specification work. A key aspect of this role involves mentoring less experienced RF engineers, providing technical guidance, and fostering their professional development. The ideal candidate will be proactive in troubleshooting, collaborating closely with the team, and contributing directly to project success.

Core responsibilities include monitoring the technical progress of RF projects, conducting simulations, and delivering actionable insights to less experienced team members. The successful candidate will be adept at building and analyzing simulation models, interpreting results, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical challenges.

This is an advanced-level, hands-on technical leadership role, with approximately 80% of the responsibilities being technical in nature. While the team operates with a high degree of autonomy, we require someone with the experience and problem-solving mindset to step in and lead when faced with difficult engineering challenges.

Responsibilities

• Mentor less experienced RF engineers and guide their technical development.
• Oversee technical status of RF projects.
• Run simulations and provide actionable insights.
• Build simulation models, interpret results, and coordinate with the team.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues within RF systems.
• Lead technical challenges with experience and a proactive mindset.

Required Skills

• Design or architect of a 4G or 5G RF Radio (downlink and uplink)
• Understanding of how Link Budgets affects a subsystem (downlink and uplink chain, Link Budget Calculations, block and level, gain budget)
• Good understanding of RF simulations
• Ability to lead and mentor

Assets

• 7+ years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Strong command of 3GPP specifications and spectrum/regulatory considerations.
• Advanced understanding of DPD across the RF chain.
• Proficiency with RF lab equipment and simulation tools (ADS, AWR, MATLAB).
• Organized, goal-oriented technical leader.
• Experience with PA linearization and calibration.
• Participation in next-generation architecture investigations/proposals.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Kanata, ON.
