Refinery Engineering Technician

Support project by executing chemical and petroleum lab scale experiments. Build up test equipment, compile and report test data. Work closely with engineers to generate mass balances and data compilations. Perform sample collection and equipment maintenance. Training will be provided by a chemist or lead engineer. Ability to read AutoCAD drawings is required.

Responsibilities

• Execute chemical and petroleum lab scale experiments.
• Build and maintain test equipment.
• Compile and report test data.
• Perform sample collection and equipment maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation, mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Assist in the safe start-up, operation, and shutdown of plant equipment from outside the control room.
• Visually inspect and listen to equipment to detect malfunctions or need for repair.
• Monitor plant air and water emissions from outside the control room.
• Assist with operations of the plant using SCADA software.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read and understand schematics.
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
• Knowledge of tubing and pipe-fittings.
• Understanding of basic fluid flow, gas flow, and pressure.
• Experience with equipment troubleshooting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Willingness to work overtime and shift work.

Work Environment

The role involves working both inside and outside in a research and development setting. The candidate will be part of an innovative process development team. Training will be provided, and the role requires flexibility in working hours, including potential overtime and shift work.

Job Type & Location

This is a contract position based out of San Antonio, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr.
