Technical Lab Manager
We are seeking a hands-on technical professional to manage and operate a new lab environment focused on testing advanced logistics technologies. This role will be instrumental in overseeing the setup, monitoring, and performance of cutting-edge machinery designed to track package movement and optimize material handling operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the setup of lab infrastructure as new equipment arrives.
- Establish workstations and dashboards to monitor machine performance.
- Ensure all machinery is properly installed and operational for testing and demonstrations.
- Monitor metrics and functionality of 3–4 major pieces of equipment.
- Troubleshoot and manipulate machinery as needed to maintain optimal performance.
- Provide weekly reports detailing machine status, performance trends, and any issues.
- Collaborate with vendor teams to oversee equipment delivery and installation.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including repair guides and operational specs for new equipment.
- Create Excel or Smartsheets documents for equipment performance trends to show effectiveness.
- Prepare equipment for internal trade shows and demonstrations, ensuring machines are fully functional and presentation-ready.
- Support technical presentations and showcase new technologies to stakeholders.
The daily responsibilities include running packages through the machines and documenting their performance. Support is available from two employees based in Nashville for any issues that arise. This role offers the opportunity to be part of the supply chain innovation and technology teams, exploring the latest technologies in a pioneering facility under a sortation center's roof. There is potential for this role to transition to a full-time position, with opportunities extending beyond the lab.
MUST HAVES
- Background in robotics, automation/automated equipment, material handling, or logistics technology.
- Strong understanding of how packages move through fulfillment facilities.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and project management teams.
- Knowledge of process/capacity analysis, including throughput of product, defects, troubleshooting of equipment, and data analysis.
- Ability to take data outputs from machinery and create Excel documents of OEE.
- Technical Engineering Degree.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
