Quality Engineering Technician

As a Quality Engineering Technician, you will provide effective written and verbal communication to all internal and external groups regarding dimensional information and issues requiring resolution. You will gather and manage part information from Digital Engineering systems and drawings, analyze part/sub-assembly dimensional data, and provide feedback to Project Leaders and Management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform equipment/tool/part confirmation utilizing Vectorarm, FARO Arm, FARO Laser Tracker, check fixtures, weld tooling/equipment measurements, and part fitting activities.
  • Engage in travel throughout North America and machine suppliers within the US and Mexico, as well as foreign travel to Canada and Japan.
  • Commonly work overtime, including weekends and holidays.
  • Check and confirm body weld jigs, tools, pallets, parts, and assemblies to meet quality targets/KPIs for new model launches.
  • Prepare, troubleshoot, and confirm new tooling/equipment, parts, and sub-assemblies at various tool/equipment vendors.
  • Support weld and tool quality confirmation activities at facilities from installation through SOP.
  • Create detailed daily plans, Project Task Reports, Problem Follow Sheets, track activity status, coordinate Safety communications, and support daily/weekly verbal and written communication with the Project Leader, BAC, and Management.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient in Digital Engineering tools including CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, Inventor, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to review and interpret part/machine/tool/equipment drawings in 2D/3D.
  • Proficient with quality measurement tools and techniques.
  • Associates Degree or higher in a Technical field.
  • Experience in Automotive Body Dimensional Quality.
  • Basic Robot Teaching skills.
  • Experience mentoring and training.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in project management.
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry.
  • Flexibility with travel schedules.

Work Environment

This position is onsite at TMMTX in San Antonio, Texas, within a large team environment. The role requires flexibility in working hours, including potential overtime, weekends, and holidays. The work will involve travel within North America and internationally to Canada and Japan. The company offers 10 PTO days and 9 paid holidays per calendar year, with compensation at time and a half for any hours worked over 40. Travel arrangements for contractors are fully managed.

This is a Contract position based out of San Antonio, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
