Quality Engineer

As a Quality Engineer, you will play a crucial role in analyzing quality performance through the use of statistical and analytical tools. You will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the reliability, precision, and accuracy of processes, products, and production equipment. Additionally, you will develop and establish quality procedures and systems, ensuring process control documents adhere to set requirements and that non-conforming components are processed on time.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze quality performance using statistical and analytical tools.
  • Develop and establish quality procedures and systems for inspection plans and technical quality proposal plans.
  • Ensure process control documents adhere to set requirements.
  • Ensure timely processing of non-conforming components.
  • Assist in failure analysis and suggest corrective actions as a Material Review Board member.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and customers regarding quality trends, performance, and corrective actions.
  • Verify conformance and productivity of quality engineering systems through supplier audits and surveys.
  • Initiate programs to eliminate internal Non-Conformances.
  • Interact with product development committees to inspect and review engineering releases.
  • Review product quality aspects like planning, manufacturing methods, and process specifications.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to optimize quality and inspection documentation.
  • Ensure all internal gauges and tooling are certified and maintained.
  • Ensure calibration records are up to date.
  • Conduct Inspector Training Program with the Quality Control team.
  • Assist in manufacturing scrap performance evaluation and management.
  • Support Quality Assurance objectives in Mexico.
  • Support the conversion of QMS to IATF16949.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with Quality Management Systems and technical writing.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and other departments.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and manufacturing processes.
  • Root cause analysis and audit skills.
  • Experience with SAP and willingness to assist in transitioning from Syteline to SAP.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work independently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with IATF16949 is a plus.
  • Proficiency in basic math skills, including fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to identify materials and supplies according to specifications.
  • Above-average ability to compose documents thoroughly and concisely.
  • Ability to prioritize work activities and meet deadlines.

Work Environment

The work environment includes both the shop floor and a cubicle setting. Some days may be more meeting-heavy, while others will focus on shop floor activities. The Quality team consists of 7 Inspectors, each with 15+ years of experience. The Quality Engineer is expected to collaborate with the entire department and assist with inspections when needed. The role requires flexibility and a willingness to engage in a collaborative workspace.

This is a Permanent position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
