Quality Engineer

As a Quality Engineer, you will analyze quality performance using statistical and analytical tools to inspect, test, and evaluate the reliability, precision, and accuracy of processes, products, and production equipment. You will develop and establish quality procedures and systems for inspection plans, quality trends, and technical quality proposal plans. Your role will also involve ensuring that process control documents adhere to set requirements and that non-conforming components are processed on time.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the disposition process by conducting failure analysis and suggesting corrective actions as a Material Review Board member.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and customers regarding quality trends, performance, and corrective actions.
  • Verify the conformance and productivity of the quality engineering system through supplier audits and surveys.
  • Initiate programs to eliminate internal non-conformances.
  • Interact with product development committees to inspect and review engineering releases.
  • Review product quality aspects, including planning, manufacturing methods, and process specifications.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to optimize documentation related to quality and inspection checks.
  • Ensure all internal gauges and tooling are certified and maintained.
  • Keep calibration records up to date.
  • Conduct Inspector Training Programs in collaboration with the Quality Control team.
  • Assist in evaluating and managing manufacturing scrap performance.
  • Support Quality Assurance objectives in Mexico.
  • Aid in the conversion of the Quality Management System to IATF16949.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience with ISO 9001 and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and technical writing experience.
  • Experience in cross-functional work within the Quality department, involving Engineering and other departments.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis and conducting audits.
  • Experience with SAP, especially during transitions from platforms like Syteline.
  • Proven skills in quality inspection and non-conformance management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with IATF16949 is a plus.
  • Ability to apply basic math in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Effective verbal communication skills with management and co-workers.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to identify proper materials and supplies according to specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Dependability in following instructions, responding to direction, and taking responsibility for actions.
  • Initiative in asking for and offering help and performing work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan work activities, and work within deadlines.
  • Above-average ability to compose thorough and concise documents.

Work Environment:

You will work both on the shop floor and in a cubicle. Some days may involve more meetings, while others require time on the shop floor. The Quality team consists of 7 inspectors, each with over 15 years of experience. You will be expected to assist with inspections and work collaboratively with the entire department when needed.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Permanent position based out of Wichita, Kansas.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $95000.00/year. Core Benefits: Medical and Prescription Drug plans, Dental, Group Life and AD&D, Long Term Disability.
