Quality Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Engineer with a strong understanding of ISO 9001 and IATF (current revisions) Standards. The ideal candidate will have proficiency with the core tool set from AIAG and thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role requires effective prioritization, multitasking, and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication, as well as reporting skills, are essential. We seek a self-starter with a strong desire to continuously improve quality and drive overall company performance forward.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in advanced quality planning activities during design and contract reviews.
  • Interface with Customers, Customer Service, Sales, Engineering, and Production personnel to transfer new products to the production floor.
  • Support inspectors to ensure processes and inspections are sound so that products are produced to specification.
  • Develop validation strategies, protocols, and reports for products and processes as needed.
  • Perform PPAP activities as needed.
  • Participate in audits as assigned.
  • Examine inspection procedures and documentation and make improvements where required.
  • Develop training to build Quality Awareness and support updates in work instructions and procedures.
  • Improve the quality of processes using data collection and problem-solving techniques.
  • Apply statistical process control (SPC) methods for data analysis to evaluate processes and changes.
  • Inspect incoming, in-process, and final products for conformance to specifications using both open surface plate layout and CMM inspection.
  • Perform the final evaluation of materials and manufactured parts that do not meet specifications.
  • Analyze product failures and prepare corrective actions for customers.
  • Perform GR&R and Process Capability studies to assist with product validations.
  • Review design documentation for compliance with customer specifications.
  • Communicate significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and recommend process improvements.
  • Maintain knowledge of current ISO 9001 and IATF revisions and proficiency with the AIAG core tool set.

Essential Skills

  • Root cause analysis
  • ISO 9001
  • GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Minitab proficiency
  • Gage R&R
  • 1+ year of Quality Engineering experience in a Manufacturing Environment
  • ISO/IATF knowledge

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Plastics experience is preferred but not required.
  • A BS degree is ideal, but candidates with an AS degree and 10+ years of Quality Engineering experience will be considered.

Work Environment

This role supports a plastic manufacturing company, involving approximately 60% of the time behind a desk with paperwork, and 40% on the plant floor. The company is family-owned, involved in both heavy gauge and thin gauge thermoforming, along with plastic injection molding, and supports various industries.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Reading, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $95000.00/yr. PTO 401k Health + Medical + dental + vision benies All benefits will go into affect the first of month after starting.

Workplace Type

This is a fully onsite position in Reading, PA.
