Quality Engineer - Intermediate

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the company's products and processes meet established quality standards by identifying shortfalls, developing corrective measures, and implementing quality control systems. The successful candidate should possess excellent troubleshooting skills to ensure that processes and products consistently meet or exceed established quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform root cause analysis of quality issues to analyze quality performance using statistical, analytical, and advanced problem-solving tools.
  • Recommend and implement cost-effective permanent corrective actions.
  • Analyze quality data from internal and external indicators to ensure correlation.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Suppliers to resolve issues that are not plant controllable.
  • Manage engineering changes by working with cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution.
  • Conduct product evaluation requests to ensure the robustness of product or process changes before full implementation.
  • Recommend and validate rework procedures.
  • Develop inspection procedures and best practices.

Essential Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or applicable Technical Engineering Degree from an accredited university.
  • 2+ years of practical experience in Automotive Engineering, Engineering Quality, or Manufacturing Quality.
  • Proficient in the application and use of problem-solving tools and statistics.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office applications and G-Suite tools.
  • Effective presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to communicate details from executive level to plant staff level.
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work off shift hours as necessary.
  • Self-motivated and directed.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree.
  • Experience with Body-In-White (BIW) commodity.
  • Experience in the design, testing, and assembly of assembly lines.
  • Experience working in a union environment.
  • LEAN manufacturing principles or World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and problem-solving techniques.

Work Environment:

The role requires the ability to work any shift. The work environment is fast-paced, demanding flexibility and adaptability. The candidate must be comfortable working off shift hours as necessary and be self-motivated and directed. Driving is required; thus, a valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.

Job Type & Location:

This is a contract position based out of Sterling Heights, Michigan.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $40.62 - $40.62/hr.
