Quality Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team. This role involves diagnosing and resolving issues or failures, ensuring quality improvements, conducting testing, and engaging in customer investigation. This is a long-term position with opportunities for contract rolling or full-time employment.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues or failures.
  • Implement quality improvements and conduct testing.
  • Perform customer investigations to ensure satisfaction.
  • Conduct failure analysis with component-level root cause identification.
  • Read and interpret schematics, electrical circuits, and PCB layouts.
  • Utilize hands-on lab skills with multimeters, oscilloscopes, hi-pot testers, and LCR meters.
  • Document and report clearly with client-facing reports, MTBF, Pareto charts, aging analysis, troubleshooting time, and repair costs.
  • Apply formal problem-solving methods such as 7QC tools, 5-Why, and 8D.
  • Engage in quality and process improvement activities, including risk assessments, NCR/MRB handling, FPY, and production support.
  • Lead and collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, production, suppliers, and various organizational levels.
  • Communicate clearly and exercise good judgment when managing sensitive information.

Essential Skills:

  • Degree in Electrical, Computer, or related Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) certification.
  • Proficiency in reading schematics, electrical circuits, and PCB layouts for both analog and digital signals.
  • Expertise in failure analysis with component-level root cause skills.
  • Strong documentation and reporting abilities.
  • Hands-on lab skills with relevant testing equipment.
  • Experience in quality and process improvements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge of industry standards like IPC.
  • Experience with PCB/PCBA, wire harness, and cable assembly manufacturing processes.
  • Basic firmware knowledge in C or C++ and expected embedded behavior.
  • Basic understanding of magnetic field interactions.

This position requires on-site work with a team in a collaborative environment.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $44.00 - $55.00/hr.
