Quality Control Engineer

The Quality Control Engineer will support the development and maintenance of the Quality System, serving as the primary customer contact for quality-related issues, including customer claims. The role involves conducting analysis of rejected products from customers and leading efforts to implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. The position requires control and maintenance of a gauge calibration and recall system, coordination with external vendors, and conducting internal process audits.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis of reject products from customer warranty, field, or plant-level rejects.
  • Lead corrective action meetings to address quality defects in the manufacturing process.
  • Control and maintain a gauge calibration and recall system in accordance with AIAG.
  • Repair and rework precision gauges to factory specifications.
  • Determine the best gauge for measuring applications.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for quotes on gauges and fixtures.
  • Collaborate with supporting departments, including international teams, for gauge design.
  • Conduct internal process audits to reduce risks of quality-related problems.
  • Prepare reports for top management.
  • Follow guidelines and standards per PPAP, MSA, and APQP.
  • Provide training to quality technicians and inspectors as requested.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in quality engineering, PPAP, and gauge calibration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of IATF standards and tools such as PPAP, APQP, FMEA, and SPC.
  • 2-Year Technical Degree or 5+ years of manufacturing quality experience.
  • Knowledge of machining, equipment measurement, and quality control.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with CMM.
  • Knowledge of gage calibration and tracking systems.
  • Understanding of non-destructive testing related to raw material, heat treatment, and welding.

Work Environment

This position is for a company that manufactures parts for ATVs and cars. The work schedule is 1st shift, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 50/50 split between office and floor work. Safety goggles must be worn at all times on the floor. The company promotes a teamwork culture, encouraging collaboration across different departments. There may be travel up to five times per year to client or supplier sites, requiring adherence to company policy when on site.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Winchester, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $31.25/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
