QA/QC Engineer
The Quality Control Inspector for Welding & Construction is responsible for overseeing quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with industry standards and contract requirements. This role requires monitoring welding procedures, conducting visual inspections, enforcing a three-level inspection process, and documenting results. The position involves coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, supervising testing agencies, reviewing submittals, preparing quality management plans, and leading safety initiatives. The role demands adherence to safety protocols and participation in training, inspections, and strategic planning activities.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor welding procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Identify issues such as improper welding techniques, material defects, or insufficient weld penetration.
- Visually inspect welds and fusions on fittings and joints, verifying adherence to manufacturer and client procedures.
- Monitor and enforce a three-level inspection process.
- Conduct daily observations to ensure proper implementation of inspections and document all results.
- Examine work areas to assure completion according to contract requirements and resolve any differences.
- Ensure compliance of work with approved submittals and contract documents.
- Oversee correction of rework items.
- Participate in strategic planning efforts.
- Perform internal quality inspections and participate with IOR inspections.
- Review and approve submittals for compliance with subcontract documents.
- Prepare quality management plans for specialized projects.
- Schedule and conduct pre-installation conferences.
- Supervise testing agencies and maintain records to ensure compliance with standards.
- Verify materials meet contract requirements.
- Participate in Contractor Quality weekly meetings.
- Chair and document weekly QC meetings with stakeholders.
- Oversee daily and weekly QC/QA reports.
- Demonstrate core values and principles.
- Follow safety procedures and work practices.
- Report incidents, near hits, and hazards to management.
- Advise fellow employees of hazardous situations.
- Participate in workplace inspections and required training.
- Attend prestart and safety meetings.
Essential Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of large project and construction management experience.
- 4+ years of MEP Engineering experience.
- 2+ years of experience with Inspection Testing Plans.
- USACE Construction Quality Management certificate or equivalent.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Graduate of a four-year accredited college or university program in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Construction, or Building Science.
- Knowledge of Construction Standards and Best Practices.
- Experience using Procore, Viewpoint, SharePoint, MS Office, Smartsheet, ACC, Bluebeam, and BIM 360 Field.
- Detailed knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as B31.3, NFPA 70, NFPA 54, and IBC Chapter 17.
- CWI certification (Certified Welding Inspector) preferred.
- ASNT II certification preferred.
- ICC certification preferred.
Work Environment:
The work location is in Phoenix, AZ, working directly with a team of around 40 people on five large Fab projects. Standard work hours are Monday-Friday, either 8:00 am-5:00 pm or 9:00 am-6:00 pm. Job Type & Location:
This is a Permanent position based out of Phoenix, Arizona.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
