Proposal Engineer

We are seeking a Proposal Engineer to support our diverse range of non-automotive business activities. The role involves front-end support for quoting, working closely with a dedicated team of territorial sales managers who are responsible for selling products that involve robotic servicing, such as powertrain assembly, cylinder heads, welding applications, end of arm tooling, and robot replacement.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with various departments and other engineers to develop proposals and quotes.
• Utilize historical and legacy data for past quotes to inform current proposals.
• Assist sales personnel in explaining quotes and conducting technical reviews when necessary.
• Manage 1-2 quotes at a time weekly, handling approximately 80-100 quotes annually.

Essential Skills:

• At least 7 years of experience as a Proposal Engineer, Project Engineer, or Mechanical Engineer in automation systems.
• At least 3 years of experience with quoting and estimating aspects of projects.
• Proficiency with automation systems, estimation, flowchart creation, and use of Microsoft Visio and PowerPoint.
• 5 years of experience in working with MS Visio, MS PowerPoint, flowcharts, and robotics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Non-automotive experience is highly preferred.
• Creative thinking and the ability to devise innovative solutions to save costs or enhance efficiency.
• Robotic experience is a nice-to-have qualification.

Work Environment:

The Proposal Engineer will work in a collaborative environment with two other proposal engineers, with the need for a dynamic and adaptable individual. The work involves less than 5% travel, and the position is based in Auburn Hills. The company is well-diversified across various markets, with significant revenue and growth potential.

This is a contract to hire position based out of Auburn Hills, MI.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $58.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
