Project Engineer/Assistant Project Manager
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Project Engineer to support our dynamic projects. You will play a key role in supporting the Lead Project Manager and ensuring the successful execution of various tasks, including contract management, project timelines, and quality control.
Responsibilities:
- Support the project based on fluctuating working hours to ensure successful execution, contract management, and adherence to project timelines.
- Assist the Lead Project Manager with tasks as assigned and serve as the first line of defense in responding to commercial and technical actions.
- Manage responses to Change Orders, Notices, Pay Applications, and Schedule of Values, and assist in developing Non-Conformance reports.
- Support quality control and safety measures and assist in reporting to leadership through monthly reports and presentations.
- Maintain and manage contract documents, communicate contract terms, and lead dispute resolution with the support of the Lead Project Manager and Supply Chain.
- Prepare requests for proposals for labor, materials, and services, solicit bids from suppliers, and conduct bid evaluations.
- Monitor contract performance to ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations and achievement of key milestones.
- Update commercial terms as necessary, including in routine contracts such as purchase orders and Master Service Agreements.
- Utilize tools for forecasting, planning, estimating, and tracking project delivery and budget.
- Perform risk assessment and management activities, and provide oversight for contract adherence regarding performance, cost, scope, schedule, and quality.
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path, and develop clear documentation to communicate processes, problems, and action plans.
- Facilitate collaboration across multiple functions, departments, and levels, serving as a role model for teamwork.
- Determine and communicate team assignments, directing and monitoring work efforts.
Essential Skills:
- 3-5+ years of experience in a related field, particularly with large complex projects involving internal/external and labor/non-labor cost components.
- Experience working on combined cycle or simple cycle power plant projects.
- Experience in building or managing heavy industrial work with general contracting experience.
- Knowledge in multiple disciplines including civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
- Ability to interpret and execute assigned duties using technical specifications and design drawings.
- Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information and respond to questions effectively.
- Strong mathematical skills and ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- A degree in Construction Management (B.S) or a similar field (Engineering) is preferred.
Work Environment:
The position requires working onsite at a power generation station from Monday to Friday, with a typical workweek of 50 hours. Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
