Project Engineer

Directly support the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), F/A-18 & EA-18G Fleet Support Team (FST) at Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW) Naval Air Station (NAS) North Island, California. This role involves developing project sustainment tasks for the F/A-18 aircraft, coordinating with management, and ensuring that all project deliverables are aligned with sponsor proposals and plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop project sustainment tasks related to the F/A-18 aircraft by reviewing sponsor project proposals and plans.
  • Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning personnel accordingly.
  • Analyze and establish project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
  • Design and conduct technical studies and tests to confirm product performance and sustainment viability.
  • Create and manage detailed project schedules by calculating time requirements and sequencing project elements.
  • Monitor and coordinate ongoing project activities, identifying and resolving issues to maintain project timelines.
  • Control project plans through continuous review of designs, specifications, and schedule changes.
  • Prepare comprehensive project status reports, analyze trends, and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Plan and execute engineering development efforts for a cross-functional engineering and logistics team.
  • Oversee and manage complex engineering projects from conception to completion.
  • Provide strong engineering expertise and proven project management skills to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Serve as a key liaison for the FST lead and various stakeholders, including clients, engineering teams, and other departments, fostering effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Experience in Engineering and Logistics program/project management (3 to 10 years)
  • Current Secret clearance

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • BS or BA degree in Business Administration or a relevant technical discipline
  • Degree in an engineering field is strongly preferred

Work Environment:

The role is based at the Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW) Naval Air Station (NAS) North Island, California. The work environment involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, using various technologies and equipment to support project tasks. The position requires the ability to manage schedules and timelines effectively in a dynamic setting.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Permanent position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr. Base salary is just one component of LMI's total rewards philosophy.
