Project Engineer
The Project Engineer will utilize their technical expertise and project planning skills to deliver new aero-derivative installations and aftermarket upgrade projects. This position involves collaborating with the Project Manager to execute these projects. The Project Engineer will assist with new unit sales campaigns from the proposal stage until commercial operation, providing technical guidance regarding scope, delivery, and commercial contract terms. This role requires sufficient project experience, equipment knowledge, and schedule awareness to avoid delays and mitigate risks through the planning, delivery, construction, and commissioning stages.
Responsibilities
- Support new equipment bid and proposal phase, ensuring the scope of supply aligns with contract specifications. Identify potential technical and execution risks and recommend mitigation actions. Review budgets to ensure they adequately cover design and scope of supply requirements.
- Following contract award, communicate project scope, design, and deliverable requirements to all internal groups. Coordinate release of bills of material and drawing packages and transmittals of documents to customers. Communicate to internal departments regarding any contract change orders. Manage scope and design integration activities to reduce technical and execution risk and improve overall project margin.
- Summarize technical activities, risks, and current spend-versus-budget.
- Ensure on-time and high-quality delivery of all hardware, information, and services in full compliance with project technical requirements.
- Provide technical leadership to field teams to ensure compliance with technical requirements during construction and commissioning. Provide timely resolution of all field technical issues. Track site material shortages.
- At completion of project, ensure swift closeout of project punch list. Provide accurate as-built documentation. Ensure all site QC documentation and test reports are archived during project turnover.
- Capture lessons learned for continuous improvement.
- Support aftermarket projects by leading smaller-scope upgrade projects in parallel with new unit projects. The candidate may be required to manage several projects simultaneously.
- Prioritize EH&S considerations in dealings with customers, contractors, and suppliers.
Essential Skills
- Engineering Degree
- 2+ years of experience with Gas or Steam Turbines
- Blueprint & GD&T to review engineering drawings
- 3+ years of project engineering coordination
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Power Plant Engineer, Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine
- Proficiency in MS Project, profit & loss, budget management, scheduling planning, scheduling coordinating
- Experience in equipment installation, supplier negotiation, supplier interface, commissioning, supplier management, customer interaction
- Ability to make engineering changes to drawings
- Experience ensuring budgets, schedules, milestones are achieved
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
- Experience with change orders and electro-mechanical engineering
- A balance among gas turbine knowledge, business management, and customer relationship skills
- Ability to focus on priorities and manage multiple projects within demanding time constraints
- Capacity to work across multiple time zones and sometimes outside of normal working hours
- Customer-focused and able to appreciate customer and company perspectives
- Problem-solving skills

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glastonbury, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $65.00/hr.
