Project Engineer
We are seeking a Project Engineer with a strong design and engineering background to join our team. The role involves project engineering within a design setting, focusing on the design of equipment, including steel, process, power, concrete, and foundation designs. The position also involves managing EGSE design work. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is not required for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Perform mechanical design tasks, including sketches and mark-ups of existing drawings to communicate design intent.
- Conduct field work to inspect and verify existing plant conditions, route pipes, ducts, and roads, and layout new equipment for optimal space and resource use.
- Create preliminary designs for the installation of pipes, equipment, and structures.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to produce projects with the lowest total installed cost.
- Review and check the design work of others for accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Critically evaluate design work across various disciplines.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients and contractors.
- Lead scope development efforts by interfacing with clients as needed.
- Provide weekly reporting communications to clients and communicate scope requirements to designers or other engineers.
- Obtain quotes for engineering, equipment, material, and services.
- Coordinate project safety, timing, and other issues.
- Control documents generated during the course of the project and manage electronic document storage per EGS file system.
- Issue documents to clients for permanent storage and maintain internal schedule and budget.
- Pursue internal deliverables and ensure timely issuance of drawings, reports, etc.
- Develop bid packages, lead bid meetings, and evaluate bids.
- Manage the scope of work and write proposals, change orders, scope, and estimate reports.
Essential Skills:
- Project management and engineering skills with a focus on design.
- Experience in mechanical design, project engineering, and mechanical engineering.
- Proficiency in routing pipes, ducts, and roads, as well as handling equipment and structures.
- Strong ability to critically review design work and ensure compliance with project requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience with project management tools and electronic document storage systems.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with clients and contractors.
Work Environment:
This position is primarily office-based, with potential office locations in Bruton, AL, Jacksonville, FL, and Dothan, AL, with Dothan being the largest office. Pay and Benefits:
