Project Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Project Engineer with a strong experience in solar construction standards and project documentation practices. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in utility-scale solar or mechanical construction. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams such as estimating, procurement, and field operations to support successful project completion. Proficiency in safety protocols, quality assurance, and quality control (QA/QC) procedures, as well as regulatory compliance specific to solar construction environments, is essential.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project completion.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
- Design residential and commercial solar arrays using tools like AutoCAD, Solmetric, Aurora, and Scanifly.
- Oversee foundation installations, module placement, and QA/QC inspections.
- Draft and maintain as-built drawings using Bluebeam Revu.
- Perform production log audits to ensure data accuracy and compliance with project metrics.
- Build and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project, coordinating with field and office teams.
- Support Construction Managers and Assistant Project Managers in document control, reporting, and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and internal teams to track progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions.
- Assist in quality control, safety compliance, and adherence to project specifications.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in utility-scale solar or mechanical construction.
- Proficiency in designing solar arrays using AutoCAD, Solmetric, Aurora, and Scanifly.
- Experience with racking systems such as NEXTracker, ETI, GameChange, PVH, and ATI.
- Strong foundation in electrical and mechanical systems, including inverter commissioning, switchgear installation, and torque tube alignment.
- Familiarity with NEC, CEC, and ASHRAE standards.
- Use of Procore and Bluebeam for documentation and markup workflows.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in construction management, including oversight of foundation installations and module placement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in solar system design and engineering.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with subcontractors and internal teams.
Work Environment
The candidate will work both in an office setting and outdoors on-site with the team as needed. The role involves using technologies such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project to manage project documentation and schedules.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sacramento, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $48.10/hr.
