Project Development Engineer
This role requires a professional with strong electrical engineering skills who can develop concept drawing sets, including Electrical One-line Diagrams and Site Layouts. You will leverage your knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical power systems, reciprocating engine, and power distribution equipment design. Experience with renewable energy Distributed Energy Resources (DER) is an advantage. Strategic and analytical thinking, attention to detail, and process orientation are essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret and apply codes and standards are necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Review specifications, drawings, and customer requests to determine project scope, schedule, risk, and all technical delivery requirements.
- Model power systems, including fault, coordination, and arc flash analysis using SKM.
- Manage utility interconnect applications and processes.
- Participate in discussions regarding new product offerings and stay informed of industry product and technology trends.
- Understand the product line and overall business models.
- Act as a technical liaison for the Sales team.
- Collaborate with sales staff, product engineering, and manufacturing leads to ensure complete and shared project understanding.
- Assist sales in the development of project scope, schedule, risk, and project information management.
- Communicate effectively with internal team members for estimate/proposal development.
- Manage post-sale engineering project tasks.
Essential Skills:
- Electrical engineering skills, subject to assessment.
- Strong commercial and industrial electrical power systems knowledge.
- Reciprocating engine and power distribution equipment design knowledge.
- Ability to develop concept drawing sets (Electrical One-line Diagrams, Site Layouts, etc.).
- Strong CAD skills.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an electrical consultant, application/development engineer, or related industry position.
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical degree.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Renewable energy Distributed Energy Source (DER) experience is a plus.
- Power system modeling (fault, coordination, arc flash) in SKM is a plus.
- Ability to balance multiple projects and documentation requirements effectively.
- Effective prioritization and management of pre-sale and post-sale tasks within ERP systems.
- Ability to develop and lead projects.
- Ability to present and lead customer meetings.
- Ability to specify and obtain accurate vendor quotes.
- Ability to read and communicate in English.
- Maintain a commitment to overall professional development.
Work Environment:
This position involves working onsite with travel based on customer demand. The role demands effective communication and collaboration with various teams and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Job Type & Location:
This is a Contract position based out of Durham, North Carolina.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $57.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
