Process Engineer

We are seeking a Process Engineer who is a subject matter expert in Thermal Spray and Programming to lead our Plasma Department. This role involves developing and implementing standard practices and documentation focusing on process control, and collaborating with Operations and Quality functions to maintain NADCAP accreditation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for the plasma spray process.
  • Develop and implement standard practices and documentation, including process parameters, programs, procedures, setup work instructions, and operation sheets.
  • Lead activities and collaborate with Operations and Quality functions to support and maintain site NADCAP accreditation for plasma spray.
  • Lead new product introduction process development activities supporting new plasma spray repairs.
  • Review process deviations and drive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Participate in Root Cause Corrective Action processes to investigate internal and external warranties.
  • Share product and process ownership responsibilities within the process engineering team.
  • Mentor and train shop floor personnel on process standards and repair techniques related to the plasma spray coating process.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams on process control, improvement, and optimization projects.

Essential Skills

  • Expertise in plasma spray, thermal engineering, and coating machines.
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in programming and robot programming.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Over four years of experience in an Aerospace MRO facility with special process responsibility or equivalent thermal spray experience.
  • Team-focused attitude.
  • Hands-on experience with plasma spray systems preferred.
  • Experience with robotic systems for thermal spray processes, with a preference for ABB systems.
  • Experience in programming robotics for thermal spray applications.
  • Metallurgical understanding of thermal spray coatings and microstructure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CAD.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing methodology, including 6-sigma, 6-S, and Continuous Improvement.

Work Environment

The work environment consists of 25% desk cubicle setting and 75% machine shop focused on large hot section rotating aerospace parts. The dress code is business casual, and there is a kitchen on location. The facility is located near Bradley International Airport.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $95,000.00 - $125,000.00/yr.

• Participation in the Company's Supplemental Incentive Compensation Plan (SICP) effective on date of employment, on a pro-rata basis. Targeted incentive under this plan is 12.5% of base salary, with a maximum payout of 25% of base salary. The incentive payout is based on Barnes Aerospace Consolidated's ability to achieve their annual performance targets. Payouts to participants are subject to the provisions of the plan and are normally paid in late February following the year in which it was earned.

• Group Term Life Insurance of 1.5 times annual base salary up to $300,000 (non-contributory).

• Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance of 1.5 times annual base salary up to $100,000 (non-contributory).

• Optional Employee Term Life Insurance of 1 to 6 times annual base salary (contributory).

• Optional Dependent Term Life Insurance of up to $250,000 for your spouse and up to $10,000 for each dependent child, as applicable (contributory).

• Short-term Disability coverage, with a benefit of up to 26 weeks' salary continuation (non-contributory).

• Long-term Disability coverage, with a benefit of 50% of covered earnings (non-contributory).

• Supplemental Longterm Disability coverage available in increments of 10% and 16 2/3 % (contributory).
