Process Engineer
We are seeking a skilled process engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for documenting and developing processes for the setup and operation of injection, transfer, and compression mold tools. Your role will focus on improving efficiency, reducing waste, and ensuring consistent quality in our production processes.
Responsibilities
- Document start-up procedures for injection, transfer, and compression mold tools.
- Develop and verify processes for the correct setup of molds, presses, and auxiliary equipment.
- Update and maintain process sheets for new and existing mold tools to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Set up protocols to ensure process sheets are used correctly by molding machine operators.
- Support design reviews of new mold inserts and mold bases.
- Perform design of experiments (DOE) to establish shrink rates for various molded materials and geometries.
- Coordinate molding trials with the materials and processing (M&P) group to validate new elastomers.
- Implement periodic maintenance routines for inserts, mold bases, and molding machines.
- Develop training documentation and independently train and mentor production staff in accordance with quality systems.
- Recognize dimensional and cosmetic non-conformances and initiate action to prevent reoccurrence.
- Follow all 5S department procedures including housekeeping duties.
- Attend all required job-related training (internal and external).
- Continually exemplify and advocate the company's guiding principles.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of four years of experience working in a rubber molding facility.
- Understanding of molding machine controls and their effects on part quality.
- Strong technical knowledge and experience in thermoset molding.
- Experience molding silicone, fluorosilicone, FKM, NBR, and other specialty elastomers.
- Experience using MDR and other lab test results to improve molding parameters.
- Experience in design of experiments applicable to the molding process.

- Process improvement and troubleshooting skills.
Work Environment
This role is based on the manufacturing floor in rubber molding production. The work involves maintaining cleanliness and organization in accordance with 5S procedures.
Job Type & Location
This is a contract to hire position based out of Glendale, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
