Transmission Calibration Engineer

The Transmission Calibration Engineer plays a crucial role in developing the customer driving experience and optimizing fuel economy. Key activities include developing, verifying, and releasing transmission calibrations for automatic transmission applications. The engineer will perform hands-on, in-vehicle calibration development work, support test trips to verify proper transmission operation across various environmental conditions, and coordinate activities with global teams for vehicle development in global markets. The role involves using in-vehicle test instrumentation, ETAS-INCA calibration tools, and mathematical analysis tools such as Matlab.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and verify transmission calibrations for automatic transmission applications.
  • Release transmission calibrations for production.
  • Perform in-vehicle calibration development work.
  • Support test trips to verify transmission operation across different environmental conditions.
  • Coordinate activities of global teams for vehicle development in global markets.
  • Manage transmission calibration project deliverables for assigned projects.
  • Utilize ETAS-INCA calibration tools and mathematical analysis tools such as Matlab.

Essential Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
  • 3 years of experience in Powertrain Calibration or a related field.
  • Experience with INCA/Canalyzer tools.
  • Prior automotive experience, including university SAE or other experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Desire to perform in-vehicle test and development work in addition to analysis work.
  • Willingness to work with global teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Master of Science Degree in Engineering.

Work Environment:

The position is based 100% onsite at the Chelsea Proving Ground. The role requires driving an m-plate and involves about 20% US domestic travel for test trips.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract position based out of Chelsea, Michigan.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $41.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
