Power Systems Engineer

Studies Engineer

Our client is seeking a Studies Engineer to support substation projects and other high-voltage (HV) electrical initiatives. This role involves performing power system studies and providing design support when required. Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting power system studies using ETAP or SKM
• Performing Arc Flash Analysis, Load Flow, Lighting Studies, and Transient Voltage Analysis
• Supporting grounding studies (experience with CDEGS preferred)
• Reviewing equipment drawings, conducting design reviews, and witnessing factory acceptance testing
• Ensuring compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code and relevant CSA, ANSI/IEEE standards

Required Skills & Experience:

• Electrical Engineering Degree
• 6+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer
• 4+ years of experience in power system studies
• P.Eng designation (must be able to stamp)
• Hands-on experience with ETAP or SKM for studies
• Proven ability to lead design studies (short circuit, grounding, etc.)

Priority Studies:

• High Priority: Arc Flash, Short Circuit / Load Flow
• Medium Priority: Transient Voltage, Power Factor
• Low Priority: Ground Analysis, AC Interference, Harmonic Analysis, Lighting Analysis, Lightning Analysis

Software Experience:

• High Priority: ETAP
• Medium Priority: CDEGS (grounding studies), PSCAD
• Low Priority: SKM, CYME

Additional Skills:

• Strong knowledge of electrical design and substation engineering
• Familiarity with short circuit analysis, load calculations, and electrical system modeling

Experience Level: Intermediate Level

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract position based out of Burnaby, BC.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.

Workplace Type: This is a hybrid position in Burnaby, BC.
