Perception Hardware Engineer

Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to meet sensing and autonomy requirements, while supporting design, testing, and manufacturing phases. Ensure structural integrity and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the software and opto-mechanical teams to understand and meet hardware requirements.
• Familiarize yourself with sensors and sensor requirements, focusing on structural design.
• Investigate and reference applicable standards to inform requirements.
• Integrate individual components such as radar systems, lidar systems, and communication systems into autonomous vessels.
• Position radar systems to meet the requirements of autonomy and perception.
• Conduct shock and vibration tolerance analysis.
• Focus on integration development for the entire vehicle, not on sensor development.
• Take ownership of the integration process and support manufacturing and production.

Essential Skills

• 5 years of experience in structural design, mechanical engineering, and design engineering.
• Proficiency in CAD modeling and creating CAD drawings.
• Experience in the integration of radar, LIDAR, antenna, and satellite communication systems.
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, including software, electrical, and autonomy teams.
• Understanding of design cycles and documentation standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Clearance eligibility required
• Familiarity with RF systems and supporting full product lifecycle, including manufacturing.
• Ability to work in ambiguous environments and define own requirements.

Job Type & Location

This is a permanent position based out of Austin, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $100.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
