Operations Technician

The Operations Technician is responsible for the receipt, inventory, storage, withdrawal, and shipment of biological specimens, samples, clinical agents, and materials from multiple commercial and government clients. These materials are stored at various temperatures, ranging from ambient to -20°C, and may possess potentially hazardous properties. The role requires independent work using database applications, effective communication, and sound judgment when making decisions. The technician may also engage in assembling kits and printing labels.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inventory, store, withdraw, and ship biological specimens, samples, clinical agents, and materials.
• Utilize database applications for inventory management and documentation.
• Communicate effectively with both internal and external clients under the guidance of experienced staff.
• Exercise good judgment and follow standard precautionary procedures.
• Participate in the assembly of kits and label printing.

Essential Skills

• Experience with repository and cold chain management.
• Proficiency in handling samples stored in freezers and with liquid nitrogen.
• Familiarity with GMP standards and inventory management.
• Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with cold chain, dry ice, and liquid nitrogen (LN2) is preferred.
• Familiarity with -80°C freezers.
• Previous experience in supporting repository and kitting operations is advantageous.

Work Environment

The work environment is a sterile warehouse-type setting, featuring a repository with freezers and liquid nitrogen tanks. The position operates during the 1st shift from 8 AM to 5 PM.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Rockville, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
