Nuclear Engineer
This role serves as the technical owner of Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) for nuclear components, ensuring that parts not initially manufactured as nuclear safety-grade are thoroughly evaluated, documented, and approved for use in nuclear applications. The position requires expertise in nuclear QA rules, dedication plans, and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Author CGD plans and identify critical characteristics that must be verified.
- Select appropriate acceptance methods such as inspection, testing, and sampling.
- Develop comprehensive dedication record packages.
- Conduct technical evaluations by reviewing drawings, specifications, material certifications, test reports, and supplier data.
- Determine the acceptability of parts, materials, or suppliers and perform failure mode and end-use evaluations.
- Approve alternate materials or processes when permissible.
- Ensure compliance with nuclear regulations including NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, and 10 CFR 21.
- Maintain traceability and uphold clean documentation to support audits and customer reviews.
- Resolve nonconformances from a technical perspective.
- Collaborate directly with CNC machinists, welders, inspectors, and quality engineers to ensure adherence to CGD requirements during manufacturing.
- Assist in developing inspection and test procedures.
- Communicate effectively with customer engineering teams to clarify dedication strategies and acceptance criteria.
- Provide CGD input during quoting and project planning and assist in determining the cost and feasibility of nuclear work.

- Working knowledge of NQA-1 (especially Subpart 2.14), 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, and 10 CFR 21
- Strong technical writing skills for CGD plans, engineering evaluations, and audit-ready documentation
- Ability to clearly explain technical decisions to customers and auditors

Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $125000.00 - $150000.00/yr. BCBS 80 Hours PTO min. 401K Match Paid Holidays
