Project Manager / Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a Project Manager / Mechanical Engineer to lead and support engineering projects from concept through completion. This role combines technical expertise with project leadership and offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative marine equipment solutions.
Responsibilities
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget (in-house or subcontracted).
- Plan and schedule major project activities for timely completion.
- Address and mitigate contractual issues during project execution.
- Define technical and general project requirements.
- Submit and obtain approvals for project submittals (e.g., samples, shop drawings, design details).
- Attend project-related meetings across departments.
- Develop cost and schedule estimates for assigned jobs.
- Inspect jobs prior to shipment; sign off on inspection and test reports.
- Prepare concept and preliminary submittal drawings for proposals.
- Ensure project goals align with customer purchase orders.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure project completion.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or other 3D CAD programs.
- Ability to create CAD files for programming burn tables.
- Experience overseeing factory acceptance testing and assembly.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Energetic, self-motivated, and a team player.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- PMP or PE certification is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Familiarity with standards (AWS, ASTM, NAVSEA, MIL-SPEC) is a plus.
- Ability to read/write PQRs & WPSs is a plus.
- Knowledge of NDT methods (MT, RT, UT, VT) is a plus.
- Some travel may be required (less than 10%).
