Mechanical Engineer

Specialize in the design, manufacturing, deployment, and support of an advanced Unmanned Aerial System built for military and defense applications. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will collaborate closely with another engineer to design and develop components. This hands-on role requires creativity, precision, and strong coordination with suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Design and model components using SolidWorks.
• Collaborate directly with suppliers on fabrication, carbon-fiber layups, tooling, and mold development.
• Generate and approve engineering drawings.
• Manage design revisions and oversee change-order implementation.
• Monitor supplier progress and review first-article parts.
• Resolve discrepancies and release components into production.
• Ensure that design, integration, and supplier activities are executed on schedule to meet critical project deadlines.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in SolidWorks for designing brackets and hangers.
• Experience in aviation, aerospace, or autonomous vehicles.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design.
• Background in UAV design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• UAV flying experience.
• Relevant degree in a related field.

Work Environment

Work alongside another mechanical engineer, a drafter, and a configuration manager, with an external team involved in designs.

Collaborate with 2-3 electrical techs and another electrical engineer.

Flexible hours from 8-5

• Occasional weekend work may be required near deadlines.
• Travel if needed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Howell, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $52.00/hr.
