Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer or Designer to support a diverse MEP backlog of work. This position involves starting new projects and assisting with ongoing projects in areas such as OGS, correctional facilities, UB expansions, and state parks. The role requires involvement in designing and laying out HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems using Revit.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and layout of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems using Revit.
- Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and duct/piping sizing.
- Prepare construction documents, specifications, and technical reports.
- Assist Senior Mechanical Engineer with energy modeling and life cycle cost analysis for mechanical systems.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Perform field site visits during design phase to document existing conditions across upstate.
- Provide construction administration support including submittal review, RFI responses, periodic site visits for compliance, and punch listing.
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or Design.
- Familiarity with plumbing design, HVAC, mechanical design, and fire protection.
- Experience with building codes and specification writing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Knowledge of NYS Building Codes and industry-standard design recommendations.
- Experience designing mechanical systems from pre-schematic phase through to life cycle cost analysis.
- Experience in K-12 or Federal work environments.
- Ability to work semi-independently with minimal guidance.
- Experience with energy modeling analysis and energy code compliance calculations.
Work Environment:
The position requires occasional travel with GSA mileage rate reimbursement, and field site visits across upstate are part of the role. Initially, work will be office-based with two direct reports. The company prides itself on a strong culture and does not provide a handholding environment. Overtime may be required.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
