Mechanical Engineer
The primary role of the Mechanical Engineer is to design, develop, and test all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery systems while applying knowledge of engineering concepts, practices, and procedures. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required to plan and accomplish goals. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, integrating, documenting, and troubleshooting industrial mechanical components to improve end-user productivity, process reliability, and ease of use of multi-axis laser cutting, drilling, and welding systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components, equipment, and machinery systems.
- Integrate, document, and troubleshoot industrial mechanical components.
- Manage projects under the direction of Project Managers and Engineering Manager for customer-driven machine customizations.
- Work with both internal and external customers to define the scope of work for engineering and manufacturing.
- Collaborate with suppliers and fabricators to procure quality parts on time and within budget.
- Assist other engineering groups, production, and supply chain as needed.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Solidworks.
- Experience in capital equipment and machine design.
- Understanding of automation, robotics, and controls.
- 3-7 years of relevant experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent.
- 3 years of SolidWorks design experience, specifically with large capital equipment.
- Experience in designing, testing, and documenting mechanical solutions for existing equipment or product lines.
- Ability to research, evaluate, and choose components for machinery or equipment.
- Experience in creating bill of materials and using proper documentation.
- 1+ years of experience in creating and testing qualification protocols to validate and verify designs.
Work Environment
This role is within a small to midsize company of about 50 employees. Every product manufactured is custom for various industries. The work environment includes collaborating with customers to develop ideas, creating/designing CAD models, and testing systems.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
