Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Ride & Show Mechanical Engineering group. The role involves developing, managing, and executing various engineering projects, including theme park attractions such as roller coasters, water rides, animatronics, and more. Collaborate with mechanical engineers, designers, and ride control engineers, and perform design reviews with Design Assurance, Operations, Maintenance, and Safety teams. Report project progress to Facilities Asset Management and other stakeholders. Support partner organizations to deliver a world-class experience for guests and cast members.
Responsibilities
- Perform job captain duties on small to large projects, including design, component specification, engineering analysis, manufacturing support, installation, acceptance testing, and post-turnover support.
- Mentor engineers and provide support to ensure compliance with design workflow processes, standards, and codes.
- Work with minimum supervision, conferring with leaders on unusual matters.
- Exercise originality and ingenuity in assignments with broad nature, having appreciable latitude for un-reviewed actions and decisions.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Sciences, or Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum five years of proven experience in the design of heavy mechanical equipment such as large conveyance systems, automotive, or large robotic systems.
- Strong relationship skills working with technical groups and multidiscipline teams.
- Proven leadership skills with good coaching abilities.
- Proficiency in Engineering and Design software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Experience in performing engineering analysis using hand calculations, FEA software, or MathCAD.
- Experience with design standards including AWS, DIN, ASTM, and SAE.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience with amusement industry mechanical engineering design.
- Experience with ride testing and/or commissioning.
- Active or ability to obtain a Professional Engineer license in Florida.
- Experience with engineering design involving fiberglass and composite materials.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards.
Work Environment
This position requires 100% in-office work. The role may require working on 2nd and 3rd shifts for extended periods, though this is not common.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $100.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
