We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of battery cells and packs. This includes creating enclosures, interconnects, and structural components. You will be responsible for mechanical design, ensuring compliance with functional requirements, high-volume manufacturing readiness, and regulatory standards. Your expertise will be crucial in delivering detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and BOMs using CAD software.
Design mechanical components and systems to meet functional, cost, and regulatory requirements.
Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and BOMs using CAD software.
Conduct tolerance stack-ups and FEA to validate design integrity and performance.
Collaborate with electrical, electrochemical, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet functional and integration requirements and DFM.
Lead the development of test fixtures, jigs, and assembly processes for pack validation and engineering sample assembly.
Select and qualify materials and components based on thermal, structural, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in engineering sample assembly and functional testing.
Lead and contribute to design reviews, DFMEA, root cause analysis, and continuous product improvement initiatives.
Support safety and compliance testing to relevant regulatory standards (e.g., UL, IEC, CE).
Proficiency in SolidWorks and mechanical design.
Experience with packaging, component selection, and BOM management.
Knowledge of tolerance stack-ups and FEA (stress and thermal analysis).
Familiarity with standards such as UL, IEC, and CE.
Experience with prototyping.
This position is on-site, with working hours from 8 AM to 5 PM. The role involves working in both office and lab environments.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Etobicoke, Ontario.
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
This is a fully onsite position in Etobicoke, ON.
