Mechanical Design Engineer
The Mechanical Design Engineer designs, develops, and tests new products, such as machinery, robotics, tools, and sensors for the company’s products. Duties include creating new products and designs, revising existing products, and providing installation support by writing technical operation documentation.
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and documentation of mechanical components and systems used in our energy infrastructure products. This role requires expertise in Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault to create, manage, and revise 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings. The engineer collaborates across teams and other departments to ensure designs are functional, manufacturable, and meet safety and performance requirements.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare calculations on the proposed machine before completing technical drawings
- Sketch and draw up designs using input from team
- Calculate factors like tolerance, dimensions, and structural analysis
- Create designs in line with company procedure, regulations, and client standards
- Submit drawings to upper management and construction teams
- Use customer feedback and data to upgrade, improve or repair the company’s existing products
- Provide support during the building and installation process, ensuring that the machine is built properly and according to design specifications
- Finalize designs and send prints to the production department
- Collaborating with other Engineers, Project Managers, and Production Team
- Writing detailed operational procedure
- Ensuring all products meet safety regulations
- Researching other products in the market to generate ideas for improvement
- Developing and building prototypes to test their function
- Conducting user research to identify consumer needs
- Developing solutions that solve user problems
- Determining whether a design solution is user-friendly, cost-effective and environmentally friendly
- Creating multiple iterations of design prototypes using computer-aided design tools
- Conducting rigorous usability tests and modifying the product based on the test results
- Design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using Autodesk Inventor
- Ensure designs are in compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and customer requirements
- Perform engineering calculations including tolerance, structural, and thermal evaluations
- Support prototype development and testing through analyzing design performance during testing and iterating as needed
- Manage drawing revisions, BOMs, and design data using Autodesk Vault
- Develop and maintain detailed technical drawings and design documentation according to ASME Codes and Standards
- Participate in engineering design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, procurement, production, and field service
- Provide support during product assembly, installation, and field deployment
- Write and update technical manuals, installation guides, and operational procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a mechanical engineer in the manufacturing industry
- ABET accredited bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment
- CAD and Manufacturing Certifications preferred
- Experience designing products for industrial, energy, or infrastructure applications preferred
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
