Mechanical Engineer

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in a developmental project centered on a naval shipboard communications system for the Royal Canadian Navy's patrol fleet. Your expertise will be utilized to develop electromechanical solutions throughout all stages of the product development lifecycle, including design, development, analysis, testing, and manufacturing support.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with cross-functional engineers to interpret and refine mechanical and environmental specifications derived from broader system-level requirements.
• Contribute to the development of mechanical solutions for ruggedized systems, including enclosures and assemblies, using CAD and simulation tools.
• Apply engineering best practices to ensure robust, high-quality designs.
• Collaborate with electrical, systems, and manufacturing engineers, as well as supply chain teams, to maintain efficient workflows and smooth transitions between phases.
• Present design concepts and updates in internal and external review sessions.
• Conduct lab-based environmental testing (e.g., vibration, thermal cycling, shock) to validate designs and support qualification efforts.
• Assist in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for design or production issues.
• Support production ramp-up by advising on assembly procedures and refining documentation.
• Review and approve changes to product data and associated rationale.
• Participate in initiatives aimed at improving design processes and overall efficiency.
• Provide guidance and feedback to junior team members.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and relevant tools.
• Take on additional tasks as needed to support team and project success.

Requirements:

• 7+ years in Mechanical Engineering (design, modeling, drawings, etc.)
• Experience in electronics packaging
• Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) capabilities analysis

Work Environment:

2 days on site- Hybrid Role

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract position based out of Ottawa, Ontario.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $70.00/hr.
