Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Design Engineer to support our mechanical engineering team in sustaining current product lines of hydraulic lift equipment. This role involves performing mechanical design on heavy equipment used in the construction, warehouse, and utilities industries, primarily using CREO.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical engineering to sustain current product lines of hydraulic lift equipment.
• Perform mechanical design on heavy equipment that serves the construction, warehouse, and utilities industries.
• Work primarily within CREO for all design work.
• Partner with cross-functional engineering and technician employees to troubleshoot issues during the design and prototyping phase.
• Manage key design projects from concept to completion.
• Focus on the design of hydraulic lift equipment including telehandlers, scissor lifts, bucket lifts, and similar equipment.
• Manage and prioritize between 5-10 design projects based on urgency and customer needs.
• Support sustaining engineering with no focus on new product development.
• Engage in hands-on design, prototyping, and testing of current product lines.
• Visit the local testing facility for testing and prototyping functions that cannot be completed in the office building.
• Monitor the operation of current equipment to recreate failure scenarios for product improvements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• BSME, BSMET, or related engineering degree
• Experience in 3D modeling for mechanical design (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, CREO preferred)
• Basic project management experience with effective communication across functional engineering disciplines
• 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience (excluding co-ops/internships); 2 years is a hard requirement
• Proven hands-on mechanical aptitude
• Experience designing within CREO
• Experience designing heavy equipment or machinery
• Experience with GD&T

Work Environment

This position primarily involves desk work using CREO for design tasks, with some hands-on work in prototyping and product testing. The role also includes collaboration with internal teams such as marketing, quality, and manufacturing/operations. The work environment fosters creativity and problem-solving in unique and complex engineering projects.

Job Type & Location

This is an ACTALENT CONSULTANT/ Contract position that has been extended every year based out of Orrville, Ohio. And does offer full benefits, PTO, Holiday, etc.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $42.00/hr.
