Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for designing various welding equipment, fixtures, tooling, and functional quality inspection gauges. Your expertise will also be utilized in the design of automotive assembly equipment. You will utilize SolidWorks for designing custom automated test and assembly machines, ranging from simple dollies to complex weld cells. Your role may also include some robotics design, structural design, FEA analysis, and modifications for existing robot weld cells. You will interact with customers on design plans and updates, although this will be minimal, less than 5%.

Responsibilities

• Design various welding equipment, fixtures, and tooling.
• Create functional quality inspection gauges.
• Design automotive assembly equipment.
• Utilize SolidWorks for designing custom automated test and assembly machines.
• Engage in structural design, including robot end of arm tooling and FEA analysis.
• Modify existing robot weld cells currently in production.
• Interface with customers for design plans and updates.

Essential Skills

• Experience in mechanical engineering and mechanical design.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or other 3D parametric design software.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Prior experience with machine/equipment design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with robotics.
• Computer programming skills, such as writing APIs for SolidWorks.

Work Environment

Our newly built facility, completed in July 2021, is one of the larger integrator facilities in Georgetown. It offers a well-lit, clean, and climate-controlled environment in most areas. The role involves both office-based design work and on-site shop floor activities, where you will have opportunities to get 'hands dirty'. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, roughly 8 AM to 5 PM, with a common 45-hour work week. While some overtime is expected, weekends are rarely required. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, including a new laser and press brake.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Georgetown, Kentucky.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
