Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design of custom industrial machinery and systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in using Solidworks and AutoCAD for designing mechanical machinery and systems. A working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, part machining, fabrication and inspection processes, part material selection and finish coatings, and general electrical controls interface is required. Additionally, the candidate should be able to assist in concept development, supplier evaluations and selections, and customer presentations.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical machinery and systems using Solidworks and AutoCAD.
• Apply knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, part machining, and inspection processes.
• Select appropriate materials and finish coatings for parts.
• Assist in developing design concepts and evaluating suppliers.
• Present designs and concepts to customers.
• Interact with mechanical and electrical project leads for setup, testing, and troubleshooting of automated machinery.
• Fine-tune connections, program machinery, and ensure product quality before shipment.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design of custom industrial machinery.
• Proficiency in Solidworks and AutoCAD.
• BSME degree is required.
• Experience in machine design and problem-solving.
• Knowledge of automation and electrical controls interface.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• BSME or BSMET with machine design experience.
• Ability to manage projects and develop conceptual designs.
• Experience with vision systems, pneumatics, and robotics is a plus.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Huntersville, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $52.00/hr.
