Mechanical Design Engineer
Join our team to design and detail sheet metal components from concept to series production, ensuring manufacturability, serviceability, and cost-efficiency. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will modify components for individual applications and generate precise manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks software, adhering to company design guidelines and industry GD&T standards. You will collaborate closely with production, vendors, and other departments to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Design and detail sheet metal components from concept to production.
- Modify components to fit specific applications.
- Generate accurate manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
- Ensure designs meet customer and system requirements by consulting with engineers and managers.
- Communicate with vendors to gather information and provide details to the purchasing department.
- Coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Synthesize and interpret complex information to define production procedures.
- Design required fixtures/devices and apply design principles.
- Utilize engineering tools such as FEA simulation and engineering formulas.
- Demonstrate attention to detail in all aspects of design and production.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and drafting.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in 3D modeling and drafting.
- Knowledge of mechanical parts and sheet metal design.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as forming, welding, machining, and assembly.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in conveyor design and development.
- Proactive, solution-oriented, and detail-oriented.
- Good communication skills.
- Fluent in English.
Work Environment
This position offers a fully remote work environment with occasional local in-person meetings. The role requires the use of SolidWorks software and interaction with various teams and vendors to ensure product quality and timely delivery.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
