This position is responsible for evaluating materials used for orthopaedic implant applications, with a focus on material, process and/or test method development, material characterization and testing, as well as writing protocols and technical reports in the Advanced Technology Department.
A minimum of BS degree in Materials Science/Engineering (other engineering degrees with strong experience of materials may be considered). Advanced degrees in Materials Science/Engineering are desirable.
Education/demonstrated knowledge of materials science/engineering essential
Hands-on and can-do attitudes essential
3+ years of R&D experience
Experience with material characterization and testing required
Experience working on metallic and/or ceramic materials required
Experience with material processing/manufacturing preferred
Experience with surface/coating technologies desirable
Experience with orthopaedic materials desirable
Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to details, especially in experimenting, writing and documentation
Experience conducting basic statistical analysis and familiarity with Minitab and/or MS Excel
Ability to coordinate activities of project team members
Demonstrated inter-personnel, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and on a team
Medical device or similar regulated industry experience preferred
Experience in preparing technical reports for regulatory submissions is desirable
The candidate is expected to work primarily on site in Mahwah, New Jersey
Support material development and evaluation programs, conduct technical investigation in areas of process development, material characterization, performance evaluation, root-cause analysis, etc. under minimum guidance of technical leads
Coordinate with internal and external collaborators to execute programs' plans, participating in both theoretical/analytical and lab activities
Generate technical memos and protocols/reports to a level of detail as required by the audience, up to and including that necessary to support a regulatory submission
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
