Manufacturing Engineer

Join a cross-functional team responsible for planning and launching new vehicle programs at assembly plants. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful implementation of these programs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Manufacturing Delivery Quality Operating System requirements for your specific system such as Body, Electrical, Powertrain, Suspension, Exterior, Interior, or Body.
  • Collaborate with the Product Development team to generate facility and tooling costs, improve quality, and reduce labor requirements.
  • Use virtual tools to evaluate the feasibility of new model designs for high volume assembly operations.
  • Write, modify, and maintain process sheets and deliver updated Cycle Line Layouts.
  • Lead the identification, resolution, and closure of feasibility issues.
  • Create and follow a master schedule for the design, build, and implementation of tools in your subsystem.
  • Lead assembly tooling installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly site, and support tooling buy-offs at vendor facilities.
  • Resolve all manufacturing-specific product and tooling issues.
  • Develop 'Lessons Learned' from new model launches and implement Prevent Reoccurrence Actions into future programs.
  • Support Department Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Environment, and Innovation initiatives.
  • Interface with cross-functional activities including Product Development, Supplier Technical Assistance, Material Planning & Logistics, and New Model Programs.

Essential Skills

  • Manufacturing engineering experience in the automotive industry.
  • Experience working with vendors, production workers, and product specialists.
  • Experience with new equipment installations and troubleshooting.
  • Tooling experience.
  • Working knowledge of statistics, including control charts and data collection.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • An engineering degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A Master's degree is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Our Client software systems: AVBOM, WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, E2KS, AIM, CPARS is a plus.
  • A minimum of a couple of years of experience in automotive manufacturing.

Work Environment

This position is based at KCAP, primarily in a cubicle environment or on the plant floor working on pre-launch projects. Expect a fast-paced, creative problem-solving atmosphere. Offices are air-conditioned, but the plant floor can get very hot during the summer. The culture is typical of a fast-paced, stressful, union automotive facility. You will work within a small team of engineers and collaborate with other stakeholders, vendors, and skilled trades. The dress code is jeans and a polo. The role involves a Monday to Friday day shift, with potential weekend hours. Travel to Michigan may occur 3-4 times a year for learning opportunities related to new products, providing exposure to managers and groups there.

This is a Contract position based out of Kansas City, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $55.00/hr.
