This position is tasked with the creation and execution of capital and non-capital initiatives intended to enhance production efficiency, expand operational capacity supporting new and existing products. These functions will be accomplished while working with interdepartmental groups, suppliers, customers and consultants.
• Devise and organize machinery arrangement.
• Assess workflows and machinery to ensure safe and efficient production methods.
• Keep records of processes via process flow diagrams (PFD's) and process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's).
• Develop and review Heat and Mass Balances, Utility Consumption, Equipment and Installation Specifications.
• Perform investigations to develop new and improved processes for manufacturing.
• Resolve issues associated with manufacturing processes.
• Conduct tests and monitor the process performance throughout production.
• Support capital project creation and execution.
• Monitor data and report deviations from existing standards.
• Oversee major initiatives and drive change management for all system modifications necessary for project success.
• Provide direction to outside vendors and manage other resources on projects.
• Manage project budget, including reconciling all invoicing against services rendered.
• Direct and synchronize project execution and startups.
• Generate visual representations to illustrate workflow, routing, floor layouts, material handling, and machine utilization.
• Aid in financial forecasting providing projected efficiencies and staffing requirements for new products.
• Handle process transitions in manufacturing processes for lines 1-6.
• Support R&D startups, new products, and reformulations.
• Organize and deliver instruction to develop and improve knowledge and skills of affected personnel.
• Analyze metrics and compile documentation to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
• Contribute to routine operational discussions by helping analyze data and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Steer creation of centerlines for all products and lines.
• Spot potential improvements for performance improvement using continuous improvement tools and processes to identify and eliminate manufacturing losses.
• Identify capacity constraints (bottlenecks) and drive cross functional teams to address the opportunity.
• Collaborate with QA teams, executing and supporting all Quality programs that ensure the production of Safe, Quality Foods.
• Execute additional tasks as required.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Engineering, or related field together with related experience.
• Understands lean manufacturing and continuous improvement philosophies and principles
• At least five years of previous experience in manufacturing in a food production facility or other FDA/USDA facility.
• Previous experience in all aspects of project management including but not limited to: quotes, budgeting, cost tracking, scheduling, contractor management, installation and start up.
• Excellent communication abilities to effectively interact with all internal functions, customers, and suppliers.
• Effective implementation capabilities and the ability to provide leadership and vision in developing and sustaining the strategic goals for operations and engineering.
• Proven management experience, good teamwork and collaboration skills required.
• Skill in resolving manufacturing processes to eliminate downtime and ensure product quality attributes.
• Background in creating and implementing testing protocol is required.
• Familiarity with SQF (Safe Quality Foods) is beneficial.
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $100000.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
