Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking skilled Manufacturing Engineers to join our team, including at least one Manufacturing Engineer. You will perform various engineering activities to provide technical support in the manufacturing process. Your role will ensure compliance with customer and industry requirements, assist in planning and production procedures, and support continuous improvement efforts. You will be responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes and procedures for machining, analyzing and improving manufacturing methods to reduce costs, improve quality, and increase efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement manufacturing processes and procedures for machining.
• Analyze and improve manufacturing processes and methods to reduce costs, improve quality, and increase efficiency.
• Evaluate and solve production problems, spending 80% of the time in the office and 20% on the production floor.
• Conduct contract reviews by evaluating customer purchase orders, drawings, and all supplements, creating manufacturing plans based on the gathered information.
• Create manufacturing documentation such as travelers, sketches, technique sheets, and all supporting documentation needed during the production process.
• Evaluate and approve drawings, routings, specs, and other documents.
• Implement corrective and preventative actions as provided by customers and industry oversight committees.
• Manage projects with the ability to schedule, assemble, coordinate, manage and drive progress.
• Respond to inquiries and communicate project status to management and team as the point of contact on assigned projects.
• Communicate manufacturing intent, preference, and capabilities with customers, suppliers, and the industry.
• Facilitate and troubleshoot various problems associated with developing complex systems or coordinating, developing, and designing projects until completion.

Essential Skills

• Experience with CNC machining processes (minimum 3 years experience with machining manufacturing environments).
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with aerospace manufacturing, AS9100 or ISO9000.
• Mechanical aptitude, six sigma, process improvement, production support, work instruction, tooling.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• For a Manufacturing Engineer: 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience with a degree preferred in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or mechanical engineering.
• For Junior Manufacturing Engineer: 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience with a degree required.
• Exposure to AS9100 or ISO9000 manufacturing environment; preferred experience within aerospace & defense manufacturing.

Work Environment

The position is based in Cerritos, CA, serving the aerospace manufacturing division. The company operates in the US and Europe, serving the aerospace industry as a tier-one supplier for complex components, engine shafts, in-flight refueling tubes, and landing-gear parts for fixed and rotary-wing aircraft. The site is small, with a medium-sized company culture that values ownership of work and high initiative. The office environment is outdated but promotes respect and collaboration between peers. The team frequently enjoys company outings and works in an industrial machine shop environment. The engineering team consists of seven members, including manufacturing engineers, CNC programmers, and manufacturing engineering interns.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cerritos, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
