Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking three Manufacturing Engineers, including at least one Senior level engineer, to join our team. In this role, you will perform various engineering activities to provide technical support in the manufacturing process, ensuring compliance with customer and industry requirements. You will assist in planning and production procedures and support continuous improvement efforts. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing manufacturing processes and procedures for machining, analyzing and improving manufacturing methods to reduce costs, improve quality, and increase efficiency. You will also evaluate and solve production problems, spending 80% of your time in the office and 20% on the production floor.

Responsibilities

• Conduct contract reviews by evaluating customer purchase orders, drawings, and all purchase order/drawing supplements.
• Create manufacturing documentation, such as travelers, sketches, technique sheets, and all supporting documentation needed during the production process.
• Evaluate and approve drawings, routings, specs, and other documents.
• Implement corrective and preventative actions as provided by customers and industry oversight committees.
• Manage projects with the ability to schedule, assemble, coordinate, manage, and drive progress.
• Respond to inquiries and communicate project status to management and team as the point of contact on assigned projects.
• Communicate manufacturing intent, preference, and capabilities with customers, suppliers, and industry.
• Facilitate and troubleshoot various problems associated with developing complex systems or coordinating, developing, and designing projects until completion.

Essential Skills

• AS9100 certification
• Experience with CNC machining processes (minimum 3 years experience with machining manufacturing environments)
• 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience for Senior level, 3+ years for Junior level
• Experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience with aerospace manufacturing, ISO9000
• Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering preferred

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Exposure to aerospace & defense manufacturing preferred
• Experience in Automotive or Medical Device manufacturing is a plus if similar products
• Mechanical aptitude
• Familiarity with Six Sigma processes
• Experience in process improvement
• Production support
• Work instruction development
• Tooling knowledge

Work Environment

The work environment is located at the Cerritos, CA site, which serves our aerospace manufacturing division. We are a small site within a medium-sized company, with operations in both the US and Europe. Our site is dedicated to being a tier-one supplier for complex components, engine shafts, in-flight refueling tubes, and landing-gear parts for fixed and rotary-wing aircraft. The office environment may be outdated, but we promote respect and heavy collaboration among peers. We constantly have company outings and work in an industrial machine shop environment. Our engineering team consists of seven members, including Manufacturing Engineers, CNC Programmers, and Manufacturing Engineer Interns. While the Cerritos site employs 65 people, we expect individuals to own their work and demonstrate high initiative to get the job done.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cerritos, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
