Manufacturing Engineer
This role primarily involves working on the shop floor, interacting with various functions, and dedicating a portion of time to office-related tasks. The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in collaborating with the Maintenance team to manage documentation, designs, and maintenance schedules. The position requires determining spare part needs, obtaining quotes, and maintaining a file for each machine. Additionally, the engineer will coordinate with suppliers to obtain training videos, documentation, and create step-by-step manuals for failure modes.
Responsibilities
- Work with vendors to install automated cells and torque robots on the production line.
- Collaborate with engineering managers and vendors on 5-6 automated stations.
- Implement changes on the shop floor to optimize process flow and layout.
- Conduct time and motion studies, develop standardized work, estimate manpower, and standardize data.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles to enhance process efficiency, process flow, and plant layout.
- Resolve open issues and collaborate with OEMs to follow through on PPAP approval.
- Provide engineering support for material flow process documents, standards, and procedures, including training and integration considerations.
- Coordinate installation activities such as delivery, rigging/mechanical setup, utilities, commissioning, and runoff qualification.
- Develop and update process flow charts, PFMEA, safety documents, and control plans.
- Support manufacturing process planning, creation of standardized production procedures, and documentation such as work instructions and revision drawings.
- Design safety systems and efficient system layout management for manufacturing environments.
- Conduct detailed design reviews and approvals, including tooling.
Essential Skills
- Strong knowledge of production equipment.
- Experience with automated work station and torque robot installation.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
- Skills in process improvement and automation installation.
- Competence in process engineering, plant layout, and process flow.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing engineering and processes.
- Ability to travel to vendor locations.
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Willingness to work off-shifts when required.
Work Environment
This position is based onsite at an engine plant undergoing expansion. The role involves significant time on the shop floor and requires travel to vendor locations. It also necessitates flexibility in working hours, including overtime and weekend shifts.

This is a Contract position based out of Whitakers, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $48.00/hr.
