In this key role, you will provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout the launch of a new vehicle model. The Manufacturing Engineer will be expected to take full ownership of process and equipment in an area of the assembly line, with expectations to additionally support other areas as necessary.
• Deliver Manufacturing Quality Operating System requirements for Exterior Systems and Chassis Components
• Collaborate with Product Development team to generate facility & tooling costs, improve quality, and reduce labor requirements.
• Use virtual tools to evaluate the feasibility of new model designs for assembly operations. Confirm all product designs adhere to FAE standard manufacturing requirements.
• Evaluate Significant and Critical Characteristics established by Product Engineers and develop Failure Mode Avoidance plan/documentation for New Model Programs.
• Write/modify/maintain process sheets and deliver updated Cycle Line Layouts during development of manufacturing process.
• Lead identification, resolution, and closure of Final Assembly Engineering (FAE) feasibility issues.
• Review "Lessons Learned" from New Model launches and implement Prevent Reoccurrence Actions into future programs.
• Collaborate with multi-functional groups (Program Implementation Teams, Product Development, Supplier Technical Assistance, Material Planning & Logistics, New Model Programs).
• Lead design and build of Final Assembly tooling with equipment suppliers in the Metro Detroit Area.
• Lead implementation of Final Assembly tooling in a Ford Final Assembly Plant.
o Support of the scheduling of the equipment arrival at the plant.
o Support installation of the equipment on the plant floor.
o Support build events and the production scaling of the equipment.
o Issue tracking and resolution through all phases of the project.
Experience Preferred • Experience with Exterior Ornamentation and Chassis Component assembly
Primary Skills Required • Proven leadership and project management skills • Knowledge of MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook) • Experience with 3D CAD (Teamcenter, VisMockup, CATIA, or equivalent) • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills • Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principles • Ability to operate in stressful situations within timing constraints. • A history of working with minimal direct supervision.
Intermediate Level
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $50.00/hr.
