Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and improving processes related to cable harness and integrated assemblies. The engineer will work within an Engineering team collaborating with Quality and Operations. This team ensures the delivery of a safe manufacturing solution that meets and exceeds cost, quality, and schedule requirements. Responsibilities also include managing projects of various scopes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and troubleshoot PLC hardware and software issues.
  • Lead new programs/products through production, ensuring products meet cost, delivery, and customer/internal specification requirements.
  • Coordinate efforts with design and quality engineering.
  • Identify all tools, equipment, and fixtures required to manufacture the product to specifications.
  • Work with operations team to drive efficiency by innovating assembly and manufacturing processes.
  • Improve manufacturing and business processes by eliminating waste.
  • Ensure a safe working environment is set and maintained.
  • Develop, design, acquire, or create new equipment for improved productivity, efficiency, and safety.
  • Work with EHS to identify and resolve ergonomic issues and other safety concerns.
  • Maintain excellent documentation of process changes and follow change management processes.
  • Analyze data, interact with operations, and collect information to achieve root cause problem solving.
  • Identify, assess feasibility, and manage change for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize Lean principles to setup and improve work cells, including 5S Workplace Organization, Value Stream Mapping, Visual Factory Management, Error Proofing, Total Productive Maintenance, Kaizen, Kanban/Pull Systems, Set-Up Reduction, and Standard Work.

Essential Skills include:

  • Experience in manufacturing engineering and process engineering.
  • Demonstrated use of Lean Manufacturing tools and process improvement.
  • Experience with writing work instructions.
  • Experience with Military and Aerospace procedures, specifications, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read and understand customer/internal documentation, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
  • Experience in new product introduction or product lifecycle processes.
  • Working knowledge of cable and harness assemblies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications include:

  • Familiarity with the use of AutoCAD and SolidWorks systems.
  • Experience with document control programs such as PDM.

The work environment involves collaboration within an Engineering team alongside Quality and Operations. Technologies used include PLC hardware and software, with a focus on Lean principles for process optimization. The role requires maintaining a safe working environment and involves interaction with ergonomic and safety concerns.

This is a Contract position based out of Simpsonville, South Carolina.

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/hr.
