Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the development, procurement, implementation, and maintenance of secondary processes and machinery. The role focuses on supporting the automotive industry as a Tier 1 Supplier, supplying interior trim components including Hard Trim, Seat Trim, and Cargo Area Systems. The position requires experience in manufacturing environments that include injection molding, thermoforming, and composites.

Responsibilities

  • Establish workflow processes for secondary operations, including assembly and error proofing, and maintain work cell layouts.
  • Develop and optimize process flow to maintain competitiveness in quoting, efficiency, and profitability in production.
  • Create and maintain equipment & tooling spec packages for new business and engineering change quoting.
  • Support purchasing and program management team in analyzing supplier quotes to ensure costs are justified and meet all requirements.
  • Create assembly equipment concepts and operator sequences with an understanding of safety, ergonomics, and budget.
  • Assist with developing tooling budgets on new model programs and work within these budgets to improve margin.
  • Provide support with feasibility and best practices during part design and development phases.
  • Maintain timing and open issues of responsible tasks to meet program deliverables.
  • Oversee runoff and buyoff of machinery at supplier facilities.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to prepare facilities for machinery setup, including air lines, electrical, and positioning.
  • Assist quality team members in developing work instructions and control plans.
  • Train operators during initial internal runs with work cell and machinery.
  • Coordinate spare parts list with maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing and secondary tooling related issues.
  • Support all new tryouts at suppliers on the manufacturing floor.
  • Lead and understand safety/ergonomic requirements.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of experience as an Automotive Manufacturing Engineer with knowledge in plastics manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience with Interior Hard Trim, Seat Trim, and Cargo Area Systems.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing operations relevant to injection mold plastics and assembly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Plastics, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
  • Experience with Automation equipment/Robotics in manufacturing processes.
  • Experience implementing Industrial Engineering Techniques.
  • Experience with Automation Integration is preferred.
  • Experience supporting VAVE Projects and quoting processes for new business opportunities.
  • Working knowledge of Post Wrapping (Carpet, vinyl, and fabrics) is preferred.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr.
