Entry Level Engineer

The company is currently seeking an Entry Level Engineer to support their client's Lighting Department. This position is a customer facing designer. The designer will receive work from the EDA (Engineering Design Associate) after they have made contact with customers who have requested lighting work. Once the EDA assigns the work order to the designer, the designer is responsible for all customer communication until the work order is completed and closed out. The designer is expected to:

• Communicate with customers via phone, email, and in-person.

• Visit customer sites and locations to field verify existing conditions and meet with customers to go over their requests.

• True-up any billing information prior to design, then input a full design to proceed with the work order and present the customer with a lighting proposal, contract, and (if necessary) Contribution In Aid of Construction (CIAC) costs that must be paid upfront before the project can move forward.

• Log customer contacts and communication within Maximo

• Proactively communicate with the customer throughout the lifecycle of the project.

• Put together any permit packages necessary, filling out locate and outage information within Maximo and stake future point locations, such as poles and pedestals.

• Be responsible in ensuring each work order has properly maintained dates (Target Start and Target Finish) throughout its lifecycle.

• Ensure each job is designed in the most economic efficient way and demonstrate financial adherence by properly designing jobs that do not consistently require back in as-built true ups.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial)

• Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.

• Understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations.

• Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

• Good written and oral communication skills.

• Demonstrate outstanding customer service skills.

• Detail oriented and organized, with strong data management skills.

Desired Qualifications:

• EIT/ Passed Engineering Fundamentals Exam.

• Understanding of basic principles of project management.

• Experience in the electric utility industry, with working knowledge of primary and secondary distribution systems, utility standards, ability to use design software packages, and general construction knowledge and aptitude.

• Lighting design/engineering experience.

• Current knowledge of Maximo, Smallworld, Bentley Open Utility Designer and Microstation.

***Good customer service, communication skills, and an assertive/driven personality is a must.

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ocala, FL.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
