Lead Electrical Engineer

The Lead Electrical Engineer provides high-quality electrical engineering services, ensuring technical execution across projects to meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements. This role also involves mentoring and developing the electrical engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver electrical engineering services that meet client and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
• Lead the execution of electrical engineering activities on assigned projects or defined project scopes.
• Support project planning and delivery, including participation in meetings, preparation of progress reports, and adherence to quality assurance procedures.
• Ensure project scope is clearly defined and changes are managed according to project change management processes.
• Provide technical input and support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Prepare and review electrical equipment and materials requisitions.
• Conduct technical bid evaluations and review vendor documentation and purchase orders.
• Coordinate electrical engineering activities with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies between client standards and requirements.
• Support the development and technical review of electrical engineering deliverables.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to intermediate and junior engineers and designers.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and project stakeholders.
• Identify technical issues and risks, develop solutions, and escalate as needed.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering
• P.ENG with expertise stamping (EGBC) in Low and Medium Voltage
• 15-30 years of experience with at least 10 years in an EPC environment
• Experience managing 2-10 projects simultaneously, including projects in carbon capture, terminals, mining, potash, midstream, and wellpads
• 2+ years managing estimates, reviewing quality, and executing resource management
• Proficiency in creating Single Line Diagrams and schematics

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience delivering electrical engineering work on industrial projects such as energy, mining, chemicals, power, or infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of engineering systems, workflows, and document management tools like SAP or KMS.
• Familiarity with process safety and operability considerations, including participation in HAZOP/LOPA.
• Understanding of project scope definition, workshare execution, and TA/NTA execution models.
• Strong knowledge of Electrical Engineering deliverables, including single-line diagrams, power distribution studies, and MCC layouts.

Work Environment

The role involves reporting to the Chief Electrical Engineer and working on multi-billion dollar projects over the next 3.5-4 years, including SAGD expansions and carbon capture projects. The work environment requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and may involve several ongoing portfolio projects with oil & gas operators and midstream companies.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Vancouver, BC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100.00 - $120.00/hr.
