Launch Engineer

The Launch Engineer is responsible for overseeing engineering changes, rework activities, and process optimizations during the launch phase of new vehicle programs. This role ensures the seamless implementation of product and process modifications while minimizing disruptions to production.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage engineering changes, rework activities, and process optimizations during the launch phase of new vehicle programs.
  • Ensure seamless implementation of product and process modifications while minimizing disruptions to production.
  • Coordinate Pre-Series builds within the Body Shop to ensure on-time delivery to internal customers.
  • Lead and coordinate the implementation of engineering changes in the Body Shop during vehicle launch.
  • Develop and implement strategies for managing rework activities in the Body Shop.
  • Coordinate containment, repair, and validation of vehicles requiring rework.
  • Work closely with quality teams to monitor and analyze defect trends, implementing proactive measures to reduce rework.
  • Provide regular status reports on change implementation, rework progress, and key issues to leadership.
  • Support lessons-learned activities from previous launches to refine Body Shop processes.

Essential Skills:

  • Project management skills, including project tracking and communication.
  • Ability to understand and analyze manufacturing processes and the development of internal and external cost and timing from these processes.
  • Understanding of vehicle construction methodology and the technical reasons for change.
  • High aptitude for computers and complex data, especially launch programs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with launch and automotive processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering-specific computer systems such as Catia and Micro Station.
  • Proficiency in VB Macro Creation and SAP, with input integrity responsibility.

Work Environment:

The position involves working on long-term projects, with benefits including holiday and vacation time. The role requires a high level of interaction with various teams and departments, primarily in a manufacturing setting. The environment may include working with computer systems specific to engineering and manufacturing processes.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract position based out of Chattanooga, TN.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
