Mechanical Designer/ Programmer
The Mechanical Designer is responsible for the design and development of knowledge-based engineering software systems. The role requires the ability to independently convert engineering design rules into software programs that generate drawings, bills of material, and other manufacturing and engineering documents.
Responsibilities
- Define and maintain project timelines that span an average of 2-3 months in length.
- Divide and delegate module tasks that are basic to moderate in scope.
- Identify and apply industry best practices when translating basic rules-based designs into code for automated bill of material, assembly drawing, and flat file outputs.
- Provide input to project leaders for estimating and scheduling projects to meet development costs and completion dates, in accordance with new product introduction practices.
- Develop test programs for new software.
- Analyze test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications.
- Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.
- Provide assistance to other users of knowledge-based engineering systems and software.
Essential Skills
- Ability to program software in the appropriate coding language.
- Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage short-term project deliverables.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- An Associate degree in design engineering or drafting is required.
- 5 years related experience in drafting, design, or engineering systems is required.
- Experience with design, SolidWorks, 3D modeling, parametric modeling, automation, and configuration management.
- Ideal candidates have a background in SolidWorks 3D with interests in robotics and programming, including writing macros and having programming logic skills.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plymouth, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
